Free public access. Generally long queues, especially on Sundays.
Collections:
Free access, works classified by the Dewey decimal system. « Beaubourg » has a broad selection of works in English, micro-films, videos and dipositives (an excellent collection of dispositive on art) and an excellent foreign language laboratory (free.) The library is always busy with many people, so sometimes it’s hard to find space to work, and there may be long queues, especially on Sundays, but that being said it’s an excellent place to work as well as find resources. 

BIBLIOTHÈQUE NATIONALE DE FRANCE (BNF)

Quai François Mauriac 75013, metro: Quai de la Gare
This site of the « Bibliothèque Nationale de France » gives access to thousands of references of the BNF. Regular events (conferences, expositions, etc.) are hosted at the library.
Hours:
Rez-de-Jardin (research library) Monday 14h-20h, Tuesday-Sunday 9h-20h
Access:
An annual library card costs 35 euros for access to Rez-de-Jardin (the part of the library reserved for researchers), but the program will pay for it.
Collections:
While the Haut-de-Jardin is a university library that has the resources of the ENS or the Sorbonne, the Rez-de-Jardin is a research library that you only have access to as a masters student with unique resources only found at the BNF.

The ‘Documentation Française’ is a center of documentation on contemporary France and its relation to international issues. It’s also a publishing house that specializes in administration and on the public sector. 200,000 works on France and on the world since 1945; 4,000 periodicals.

Documents dating from 1945 on politics, economy, society and French and global cultures. Relationship between international organizations and globalization questions

This library has a broad general collection of 950,000 works including 15,000 periodicals, but you may not borrow books from Bibliothèque Sainte Genviève. Like the Bibliothèque de la Sorbonne, Sainte Genviève has a very large beautiful reading room to study and work in.

Access:
This library requires a pass or membership card, which can be quite expensive. Note that the program will only reimburse this cost if your MA Essay subject concerns an Anglophone country. Day passes (15€/ day, 10€ discounted) or week passes (30€) do not permit borrowing, a privilege that only comes with a short-term membership card, (55€ for four months, 80€ for six months + 60€ for borrowing) or an annual 120€ 90€ for individuals under 25). With a membership, one may borrow up to 20 books, 10 magazines, or 5 media items at a time.
Collections:
The collection specializes in English-language works. With 120,000+ works on hand, the library has a notable American studies collection as well as an extensive collection of reference works in English.
