Samantha Seto

Samantha graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in December 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Writing Seminars (with Honors) and a minor in the History of Art. She is primarily interested in fiction, poetry, memoir, and novels. Her writing is published in The Washington Post “letter to the editor,” The Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine, Pleiades, and The Los Angeles Review. She lives in Washington, D.C. After graduating, Samantha was an intern at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Peace Corps, and U.S. House of Representatives. She volunteered at the Folger Shakespeare Library and National Museum of American History as well. Samantha values her experience working in a congressional office, editing scholarly manuscripts, and reading mid-20^th century U.S. Treaties & International Agreements at the Library of Congress. She was also a teaching assistant for a literary course at Duke University TIP. In Columbia University’s History and Literature Program, she wishes to strengthen her research skills, learn about French academia, and have good intellectual exchange while being immersed in French culture. Her M.A. thesis is focused on 19^th-20^th century American and British literature or contemporary European literature. Samantha admires the rich history in France and will attend museums, cathedrals, libraries, and the American Church in Paris. After she earns her master’s degree from this program, she hopes to pursue a PhD in Literature.
